David Butler practiced as a building systems engineer for more than four decades. He consulted with multinational manufacturers, energy utilities and land developers on a variety of research and development projects related to advanced building systems and energy efficiency. Butler resides in the high desert in southeast Arizona where he's enjoying his retirement. He enjoys traveling, music and astronomy. In 2005, he organized an astronomy themed tour in northern Chile for a group of amateur astronomers (Chile trip) and managed a Yahoo! group dedicated to astronomy in Chile.
